Modern Mosque - Saida

  • Based on the client’s request for a contemporary mosque, traditional elements in a mosque had to be reexamined. Located on a narrow lot, the challenge with this particular building was to address the orientation towards Mecca. The strategic solution was the placement of a glass rectangular prism intersected with a solid sphere. The prism hosts auxiliary functions while the sphere - characterized with no defined edges or orientation - hosts the main prayer area.
