Patrice + Manav: An American-Indian Fusion Wedding

Nov 21, 2019

Patrice and Manav were married on September 28th in a wonderful American-Indian fusion wedding. With a ceremony at Garfield Park Conservatory and a St. Jane Hotel wedding reception. It was an amazing wedding filled with family, joy and love.

Patrice and Manav’s American-Indian Fusion Wedding

These two… they are 100% on the people train. Patrice and Manav are the kind of people you just love being around because of their amazing energy. It was so hard not to feel jealous about their amazing families and friendships while we spent the entire day with them and their closest circle of people. They both have a crazy drive to make it in all things life — both professionally and personally.

This wedding was a fusion wedding. Manav’s family is Hindu, so they had a small, private Hindu ceremony that we photographed a few days before their official wedding date. It was filled with color, laughter and tradition. We were psyched to be able to photograph both of their wedding ceremonies.

The contrast between their first ceremony and their second ceremony was significant. It was so awesome to see Patrice in a second gown and Manav in his stylish tuxedo. The best part of this day to watch was their ceremony at the Garfield Park Conservatory. You could tell the bride and groom put so much personal energy and effort into their vows. This was their moment to share with the world what kind of love they were celebrating. You can see it in the tears, the joy, the laughter. It was such a pleasure to be there to photograph these moments for this couple.

Patrice is super close with her grandparents, and they were celebrating their 60th anniversary on Patrice and Manav’s wedding date — unfortunately, her grandfather had passed shortly before the wedding. It was bittersweet. You can see how proud Patrice’s grandmother was on the wedding day — she just glowed with gratitude and joy.

Patrice and Manav hired us because of our documentary approach to wedding photography, and a part of that is focusing on elements of the wedding day that we learn are important to our couples. For Patrice and Manav, we especially appreciate that they can look at these photographs and remember so clearly what is important to them: Patrice having a moment with her Grandmother before in the morning, their first look near Kinzie Street Bridge in Chicago, spending some time with their wedding party in Chicago, getting a moment alone with one another after the ceremony, Patrice’s niece and nephew dancing together during the reception: this is what it’s all about for us!

Thank you, Patrice and Manav. Thank you for inviting us into your lives and allowing us to capture this celebration of your love. It was a joy to be your wedding photographers for this Chicago wedding!
