Ubisoft's Jade Raymond has been appointed as the new head of the upcoming Toronto-based development studio and will oversee day-to-day operations starting at the end of this year.

GI.biz notes that the Assassin's Creed producer first joined Ubi's Montreal outfit in 2004.
"I'm honoured to be a part of Ubisoft's expansion into Toronto," said Raymond of the move. "I'm looking forward to building a strong and talented team to work on AAA games and new intellectual properties."

"I'm excited to have Jade managing our Toronto studio," added Mallat. "With more than 12 years of experience in the videogame industry, Jade's knowledge and leadership as an industry veteran are major assets in building the Toronto studio and expanding Ubisoft's presence in Canada."
The Toronto studio is expected to provide 800 new jobs for the city and will be focusing on the creation of new triple-A games.

Toronto-bound.

Bryn says: With work presumably coming to an end reasonably soon on Assassin's Creed II, it's going to be interesting to see what new games start to emerge from Toronto. What are the chances that Assassin's Creed III will be its first conquest?

I just wish we had some more solid details about Beyond Good & Evil 2. But I'm not holding my breath for that just yet...
