About 10% of all collodion babies heal spontaneously within the first few weeks (reviewed inTraupe, 1989;Sybert, 1997). A minority develops dry skin often present on the trunk only reminiscent of mild forms of ichthyosis vulgaris (Langer et al, 1991). This condition is called the self-healing collodium baby (SHCB).
