This medication is used to treat the symptoms of too much stomach acid such as stomach upset, heartburn, and acid indigestion. It is also used to relieve symptoms of extra gas such as belching, bloating, and feelings of pressure/discomfort in the stomach/gut.

Take antacids about 1 hour after eating or when you have heartburn. If you are taking them for symptoms at night, do not take them with food. Antacids cannot treat more serious problems, such as appendicitis, a stomach ulcer, gallstones, or bowel problems.

Nausea, constipation, diarrhea, or headache may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. The magnesium in this product can cause diarrhea.

Chew it completely before swallowing. Follow the directions on the label. Drink a glass of water after taking this medication. Antacids are usually taken after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by your care team.
