And Cantona has joined in on the banter with a hilarious Instagram post in which he put pasta on top of his barnet.

Whilst holding up a picture of the 26-year-old rocking his new hairdo, Cantona said: "Neymar style...spaghetti al dente!"

The Manchester United legend hit the headlines last week after returning to Old Trafford to take part in the biennial Soccer Aid.

And he left viewers in stitches after making a joke about his infamous Kung fu kick on a Crystal Palace supporter.

Unfortunately for Neymar, his new look didn't bring him much luck as the South American country drew 1-1 to Switzerland in their Group E opener.

The former Barcelona maestro was fouled a whopping ten times against the European nation - the most at a World Cup since Alan Shearer in 1998.

And he could miss Brazil's next group match against Costa Rica after hobbling off last night.

Following the clash, he called on referees to protect him, he said: "I have nothing to say about it.
