Everything You Need to Know About Brazilian and Bikini Waxing

bikini waxing vs shaving

Summertime is here, and it’s the perfect time to start waxing. Waxing can be nerve-racking, especially in the bikini area. At ZZ Day Spa, our wax technicians are highly trained professionals who will have you hairless with the least amount of pain as quickly as possible.

Bikini Wax vs Brazilian Wax: What is the difference?

A Brazilian wax removes all hair from the pubic area, while a bikini wax removes the hair from the bikini line. If you prefer to be completely hair-free, a Brazilian wax is a great option. Waxing removes the hair directly from the follicle which keeps it from growing back for longer periods of time.

Getting a Brazilian or bikini wax for the first time can be especially nerve-racking as it is such a sensitive area. Our technicians have years of experience and will talk to you and walk you through the process so that there is nothing to worry about. It is a very common beauty practice and is perfect for swimsuit weather.

Waxing vs Shaving The Bikini Line

Waxing is shown to be a much better hair removal method than shaving. With waxing, there is no chance of cutting the skin as there is with shaving. These small cuts from razors can be painful and have a chance of leading to infection.

Waxing lasts a lot longer than shaving. While it only takes a few days for the hair to start growing back after shaving, when the hair is waxed it can be up to three weeks before hair begins to grow back. Not having to worry about hair removal as often will save you time and energy to focus on more important aspects of your daily life.

Waxing is also shown to make hair grow back thinner. Since it is being removed directly from the root, the process can weaken the follicle resulting in less, more fine regrowth. When shaving, you are cutting your hair at the thickest part of the follicle which results in the hair appearing thicker and darker when it grows back.

With waxing, there is a far less chance of experiencing ingrown hairs than there is with shaving. Waxing removes the whole hair, so it is more likely to not get stuck growing under the skin.

Waxing the hair also exfoliates the skin. This is especially beneficial for the Brazilian or bikini area, because it is typically overlooked when exfoliating, and some exfoliating products can irritate the area. When the wax is pulled off the skin, dead skin cells are removed along with the hair leaving your skin smoother and healthier.

Is a Brazilian or Bikini Wax Painful?

The amount of pain you experience during a wax is subjective to your pain tolerance level. The more often you wax, the less pain you will endure. It is important to get waxed by an experienced professional as the skin in this area is very sensitive. At ZZ Day Spa, our master technicians will perform your wax quickly and efficiently while giving the skin the care and attention it needs.

How Much Does a Bikini Wax Cost? How Much Does a Brazilian Wax Cost?

A bikini wax typically costs anywhere from $30 to $50, with the actual price depending on your location and the spa you choose to get it at. A Brazilian wax covers a lot more area so you can expect to pay an average of $50 to $100 if you’re looking to be completely bare down there! Keep in mind that the industry standard for tipping is 20%. If you are satisfied with your wax technician’s service, leaving a generous tip will show that you appreciate their hard work!
