Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah in Istanbul celebrates 125 years

The Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah was built for European travelers on the Orient Express, the train line that connected Paris and what was then Constantinople (now Istanbul). The building was the first public building in the city with electricity, and the first with an elevator, which is still in use. It reopened after a major renovation in 2010 and is now celebrating its 125th anniversary.
