3 Teams Join USA Lacrosse High School Boys' National Top 25

The first update to the USA Lacrosse High School Boys’ National Top 25 sees a new No. 1 after Culver Academy (Ind.) fell to St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) 9-8 in a thriller on Sunday.

Unbeaten Lawrenceville (N.J.) and St. Anthony’s each slide up one spot. Mark your calendars for their showdown April 13.

Three teams that were not in the preseason Top 25 have moved into the rankings, led by Gilman (Md.), which owns wins over Georgetown Prep (Md.) and St. John’s College (D.C.) and looks more like a team from the program’s storied past. St. Mary’s Annapolis (Md.) rides a win over Gonzaga (D.C.) into the Top 25, and St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.) gives the West Region a team in the National Top 25 after it knocked off St. Paul’s (Md.) in a key crossover game.

Aside from St. Anthony’s, much of the Northeast has not yet played, and so it is results from other regions that have affected the rankings most. Malvern Prep (Pa.) had a solid opening win — also over Georgetown (Md.) — to move up. Calvert Hall (Md.) also made a significant move by staying close to Lawrenceville in a narrow loss. 

With more states getting underway, there is sure to be more movement in the weeks just ahead.
