A mosque is the English name for a Muslim place of worship, similar to a church in Christianity.
Muslims call this place of worship a ‘masjid’.
The Masjid e Salaam is a religious and educational building, which exists to both serve the Muslim community and to form links between Muslim and non-Muslim communities. It does so by promoting learning and understanding and is known as a spiritual and community hub. There is a Masjid e Salaam in Preston and also one in Bolton.
Community members visit there to take part in daily prayers and seminars or classes, as well as for occasions such as weddings and funerals.
