Jose Ferrer and Suzanne Flon also starred with Gabor in "Moulin Rouge," which is based on the life of artist Henri Toulouse-Lautrec. To play Toulouse-Lautrec, who was just five feet tall, the five-foot-nine-inch Ferrer performed some scenes walking on his knees.

The slap heard round the world

Later in life, Gabor made the news for a 1989 incident where she slapped a Beverly Hills policeman who stopped her for a traffic violation. She claimed he had sworn at her. She served 72 hours in jail and numerous legends, true or not, have sprung up about her time there. It was claimed she said she had to "bathe in Evian water" and that her release from jail was delayed 15 minutes so she could put on her makeup.
