Former France international Ribery reportedly injured his eye after colliding with a goalpost
FRANCK RIBERY is shedding blood for the cause at Bayern Munich after banging into a goalpost during training.
The 35-year-old forward collided with a metal post during training that saw him require medical treatment and for his head to be bandaged.
He returned to training the following day with Bayern preparing for the new season in the Bavarian lake resort Rottach-Egern.
He wrote on Twitter: "Thanks everyone for your kind messages.
"I'm already recovering and will be back in no time."
The incident happened in front of 1,500 spectators on Thursday during an open training session.
Ribery ran into a goalpost that was positioned off the pitch.
Niko Kovac is preparing for his first season in charge at the Allianz Arena after replacing Jupp Heynckes this summer.
His first competitive game will be in the DFL Supercup on August 12 against Eintracht.
Champions Bayern have their first game of the Bundesliga season against Hoffenheim on August 24.
