Macaulay Culkin quickly became one of the most successful child stars of all time after starring in the beloved movie Home Alone.

After finding fame at just 10 years old, the actor experienced the darker side of success and he had a tragic fall from grace.

Macaulay turned to drug abuse while struggling with legal woes and an arrest.

In 2004, at the age of 24, Macaulay's mugshot made global headlines when he was charged with possessing marijuana and a controlled substance without a prescription after having his car searched by police officers in Oklahoma.

Rumours soon started swirling about the star's drug habit, with some fans speculating things had gotten out of control.

Then, in 2012, pictures of Macaulay looking gaunt and frail circulated online, leaving fans shocked.

In the snaps, Macaulay was clutching onto an energy drink while wearing black jeans and an oversized leather jacket. His hair was parted in a messy style and he went for an unshaven look.

The actor later addressed the images in an interview, telling The Guardian: "No I was not pounding six grand of heroin a month."

He later admitted recreational drugs were "like old friends".

"I do love them. They're like old friends. But sometimes you outgrow your friends," he told Esquire in a rare interview back in 2021.

Luckily, Macaulay managed to clean up his act and turn his life around.

After overcoming his struggles, Macaulay has managed to remain a pop culture icon and even reprised his Home Alone role.

Back in 2021, he played an adult Kevin McAllister for a hilarious Google advert.

He also found fame with his rock band The Pizza Underground (a Velvet Underground tribute act) and starred in a number of independent movies.

After changing his life, Macaulay went on to launch his own lifestyle website Bunny Ears.

The Hollywood star also met the love of his life in former child actor Brenda Song, who has appeared in many Disney Channel sitcoms.

The pair originally met in Thailand and hit it off straight away, but Macaulay has admitted he kept thinking something would go wrong.

"I was waiting for the other shoe to drop," he told Esquire before adding: "No — sometimes it's just good."

The loved-up pair became parents for the first time in April 2021 when Brenda gave birth to their son Dakota Song Culkin.

Dakota was named in honour of Macaulay's sister who tragically died in 2008 after being struck by a car while crossing the road.

She was just 29 years old.

Macaulay and Brenda became parents for a second time when she gave birth to their son Carson in December 2022.

Talking about how they’ve found parenting, Brenda said: "My fiancé and I are very hands-on. We don't have a nanny, but my mom has been here with us since my son was born.”

Speaking to the MailOnline, Brenda added: "To my girlfriends that are pregnant I say, make sure you have help. Because your instinct is to want to do it all and you physically can't."
