  11. ENDANGERED? YES According to researches this beetle is critically endangered. AÇED (Amanos Environmental Protection Association) is doing things to protect and to increase the number of their population.

  12. Why an Endangered Species? • Tidying up of woodlands, parks and gardens has led to the removal of dead or decaying wood habitats which is the stag beetle larvae’s food source. • They come to light sources so they are being crushed by traffic • or feet.

  13. Why an Endangered Species? • Changes in weather patterns are also likely to have an impact. • Beetle-mania in Japan is causing • bigproblems for stag beetles in Turkey. • Because of the forest fires.

  14. How To Protect . • Don’t forget that stag beetles are harmless. • No matter what don’t take old stumps and deadwood! • Prepare brochures for local people about stag beetle’s benefits for habitat. • People shouldn’t do stag beetle trade. • We should create new life areas for them which are bright and see sunlight.
