    More Information

    Rocker Balance Board Includes:
½ Rocker Board with Loop Attachment Strips
½ Carpet with Hook Attachment Strips
    ½ Instruction Sheet
    ½ Maintenance Checklist

The Rocker Balance Board provides an unstable surface that can be beneficial for helping to improve postural control, core stability and strength, postural endurance, and balance while also providing vestibular stimulation to the inner ear. Children and adults with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) can benefit from this form of stimulation, helping to reduce gravitational insecurity and promoting a more calm, focused state. Ideal for use at home as part of a sensory diet or home exercise program, as well as in clinical physical and occupational therapy settings, the Rocker Board is easily portable and provides a diverse amount of skill-building activities.

For safety purposes, the Rocker Balance Board includes handholds that allow the client a convenient place for their hands. This addition protects the hands and fingers from becoming pinched between the Rocker Board and floor. Carpet attached to the Rocker Board with hook and loop closures provides tactile input and a soft place for sitting, kneeling, standing, and lying.

This versatile piece of therapy equipment can be used in a variety of creative and therapeutic ways. The board can be turned over and walked or climbed over as part of an obstacle course during balance and motor planning activities. Clients can climb through a floor barrel then over the balance board as part of a fun and therapeutic obstacle course. To improve Retained Symmetrical Tonic Neck Reflexes (STNR), clients can be placed in a hands-and-knees position while lightly rocked. This activity helps with crawling abilities, as well as motor learning. Other skills that can be worked on while using the Rocker Balance Board include eye hand coordination and body-spatial awareness, which is particularly helpful in sports.

By creating instability, the body is forced to naturally react by activating the core in order to maintain postural stability. Pediatric clients can be positioned in a sitting position on the board while practicing visual motor skills simultaneously. Babies can spend tummy time on the Rocker Board to provide more of a challenge than the floor, while also providing exposure to vestibular input. Adults can use the equipment with home exercises to provide balance instability, which causes the core muscles to react and strengthen. By placing the Rocker Board up against a wall, runners and toe walkers can passively stretch their calves.
