BioShock 2 and its downloadable content, including the essential Minerva's Den expansion, are now available for Windows PC through Steam, 2K Games announced today on its official blog.

The complete release comes in the wake of the closure of Microsoft's Games For Windows Live marketplace from August. The Steam release takes advantage of the platform's various features, including Steam achievements, Big Picture mode and full controller compatibility. 2K and developer Digital Extremes have also made a few improvements to matchmaking and multiplayer leveling for the re-release.

The Steam version of BioShock 2 includes all available multiplayer DLC, including the Sinclair Solutions test pack and Rapture Metro map pack, as well as the single-player add-on The Protector Trials. It normally retails for $19.99, but is being sold for 50 percent off until Oct. 7. Minerva's Den is sold separately for $9.99, but it too is on sale for 50 percent off until Oct. 7.

Players who already own BioShock 2 can activate the game with Steam to get access to all of the game's DLC.
