Target has opened its first store in San Juan Capistrano, a small-format concept that’s taken the place of a former Ralphs supermarket.

The 31,000-square-foot store at the Del Obispo Shopping Center is already open for customers but officially opens Sunday, Oct. 25.

Target estimates the store will create at least 90 new jobs.

Amenities at the store include a CVS pharmacy and a Starbucks cafe. Customers can use drive-up and order pickup, free services that allow guests to place orders online and pick them up in the store or have them brought to their car within a few hours, including groceries.

The store is one of six new stores the retailer is opening Oct. 25 across Southern California. The five other stores all are in Los Angeles County.

Small-format stores typically are a third of the size of a traditional Target and stock limited quantities of goods aimed at the local community. Compact Target stores near universities tend to stock supplies aimed at students while neighborhood locations include clothing for the whole family and a limited amount of household goods, toys, electronics and groceries.

Address: 31784 Del Obispo St. Store hours are 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Monday – Saturday; and 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Sunday.
