'The Adventures Of Tintin': Captain Haddock Conquers The Sea (VIDEO)

Andy Serkis Conquers The Sea

This summer, Andy Serkis leaped from tree to tree as a genius ape. Now, he's conquering the high seas as a drunken Scottish boat captain. Not a bad year.

The motion capture superstar features in Steven Spielberg's upcoming Herge adaptation, "The Adventures of Tintin," playing the famed Captain Haddock. Serkis, who played Caesar the ape in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," led the way in this, Spielberg's first experience with the cutting edge computer animation technique. Miserable when he's drunk but brainless when he's sober, Haddock is rescued from a conspiracy by the ageless boy reporter Tintin (Jamie Bell) and sets sail on a wobbly quest to bury a centuries old feud.

Along with Bell, the film stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Detective Thompson and Thomson, as well as Daniel Craig as the evil Sakharine.
