My Favorite Nail Color For February 2010

Ok, this one was both obvious and a tough call. It's a shade a lot of people are talking about this month--and that we have discussed here on the blog with great enthusiasm--but I am almost feeling like it's more March than February. However, despite its un-Valentineliness, I hereby nominate ...

... Chanel Particuliere as my favorite nail color for February 2010.

As many of you will recall, this is the striking, smoky-beige, clay-like neutral that Sandra Bullock wore while gripping her Golden Globe award a couple weeks ago. (Well, technically that rumor was never confirmed to us by Chanel--but we're pretty sure that's what the situation was.)

It's neutral and versatile, yet also unexpected and eye-catching. No, it won't brighten up a wintery day like bright red did for us last month, but it's pleasantly lower-maintenance and a bit warm and soothing. And one could argue it will make you tres mysterious on a V-Day date--more so than a sweet pink or saucy red might.

Oh, and a reader tip: If you're looking for a shade like this but can't find the Chanel at a store near you, try OPI for Sephora's Metro Chic shade, which blog commenters marinadeperdomo and casta7 say has a similar look. Another reader pick: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Nail Polish in Commander in Chic (thanks misskatie2!).

What do you think? Are you guys feeling this shade, or similar ones? Would you wear Chanel Particuliere this month?
