Jennifer Lopez Wore Glittery, Goddess-Inspired Makeup to Her Film Premiere

We can always count on Jennifer Lopez to deliver on the red carpet. Whether it's the pink dress and French mani she wore to the Golden Globes, the diamond-studded look she wore to the Grammys, or the wet-styled bob she wore to Schiaparelli’s Couture Show, she's always delivering the highest of fashion moments. So, obviously for the red carpet premiere of her brand-new film she had to up the ante in more ways than one.

On February 13, J. Lo threw a glamorous premiere for her Prime original movie based on her life, This is Me... Now: A Love Story—a dramatized retelling of her life story in which she plays herself. To walk the red carpet and pose for pictures with her husband, Ben Affleck, Lopez brought a bit of her signature look in the form of nude nails. However, she switched up their style and paired the mani with an semi-out-of-character, over-the-top eye makeup look.

Those familiar with JLo’s love of nude nails—for which there are too many examples to name—know that no matter which slight variation of her classic look she sports, it's almost always in an almond shape. Whether it's a “Rich Girl Nude” or “Peaches and Cream,” her nails almost always have a rounded edge. So, imagine our surprise that at an event all about her (every Leo’s dream) she decided to ditch her tried-and-true shape for a long and square silhouette. Still with a glossy nude hue, just with a flat, sharp edge. 

That wasn’t the only place in the look she decided to experiment, either. The superstar decided to try out a big glittery moment on her eyes—a change from the usual bronzed goddess glow or nude-smoky moment she usually goes with. 

Lopez’s eye makeup started with dramatic black liner. Super dark and pigmented, every part of her upper and lower waterline was coated in black pigment that formed a short but thick cat eye off her outer corner—we can't help but see the similarities to Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra. The cat eye connected to a dark green graphic cut crease that framed her eye. On top of all of that she added a grayish green sparkle to catch the light.

The superstar’s makeup was finished off with glowy bronzed skin, a flush of blush, and some shiny highlighter. Not to mention her signature nude lip in an ultra-glossy variety.

From the neck down, her Zuhair Murad Couture gown only added to the elegance. An off the shoulder design, the top half was a black velvet material with a plunging neckline and long sleeves. From the waist down the skirt was completely sheer. Made of a black tulle material, it brought the glitter from her eyes to the outfit in the form of silver glitter stripes. Then, right above the hemline, the entire astrological zodiac with her sign, Leo, being front and center.
