After being forced to cut short their 2023 tour dates in support of last year’s return release, This Is Why, due to Paramore singer Hayley Williams' health issues, the band has announced that they're currently working on brand new music.

Posted to both Paramore’s Instagram as well as her personal page, Williams offered up a batch of photos and video from their latest studio sessions and band hangs in Los Angeles. She also confirmed on Discord that the group is in fact working on new music, saying, “we’ve been off the road for a couple weeks now… mainly in LA. Thankfully got some down time but we put some work in too.” Williams adds, “It felt good to get back into a studio. More of that once we get home to Nashville.”

Zac Taylor and I just want to get back to making things,” Hayley explains. “We’ve been craving that for a while now. Not only the creative process but the layer(s) of insulation that can come with the creative process.”

While the band was wrapping up their North American tour dates in support of This Is Why July, the party was cut short early due to Williams contracting a lung infection. Now, she’s on the mend, telling fans, “I can hardly believe I don’t cough all day and night anymore. My stomach is still f***** from 10 kinds of medication,” she says, adding, “I’m just happy to be resting more.”

Previously, Williams addressed the band’s decision to postpone shows saying, “Touring is different at 34 than it was at 16, when leaving home felt like the greatest escape. Even in my 20’s I benefitted from the constant movement. It was a perfect distraction from relational issues and my own mind. At this age, I have my own home life, a community, a dog, my sisters and the rest of my family who are getting older … It’s quite a lot to leave behind.”

“Now that the bulk of our touring for the year is over, I’m hoping to dive head first into creating some better routines,” Williams adds in her latest update. Paramore’s This Is Why tour is scheduled to kick back off in Australia and New Zealand starting in November and will be heading to the UK and Europe as openers on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in 2024.
