Things to do.

Experience world-renowned white-sand beaches, iconic wildlife, scenic hiking trails and awe-inspiring viewpoints in one of Tasmania’s first National Parks

Wineglass Bay Lookout Walk.

The Wineglass Bay Lookout Track is easily the most popular walk in Freycinet National Park. It’s a leisurely stroll on wide, cleared ground. The lookout is situated on the saddle between Mount Mayson and Mount Amos, two of three dominant granite peaks known as The Hazards. While there is a little bit of elevation involved, there are plenty of places along the track to rest and recover.

1.5 hours

Watch the sunrise from Mount Amos.

Mount Amos is one of three dominant granite peaks overlooking the Freycinet Peninsula. These are known as the Hazards and Amos is the only one with a dedicated hiking trail. If you’re only in the park for a day, then I’d say that climbing Mount Amos for sunrise or sunset is the best thing to do in Freycinet National Park.

Friendly Beaches.

The Friendly Beaches beg for long, slow exploration. Get some sand between your toes, stare out to sea, or watch the shorebirds. If the surf’s up, you could try out the breaks. Or if surf fishing appeals, there’s enough beach for everyone. The trail to Friendly Beaches is listed as one of Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks, and it takes little effort to get from the car park to the beach.

Cruise Wineglass Bay.

Wineglass Bay Cruises is a 4½ hour cruise of the waterways surrounding Freycinet National Park from Coles Bay to Wineglass Bay on Tasmania’s East Coast. Cruise the spectacular coastline of Freycinet National Park from Coles Bay to Wineglass Bay. Be enthralled by the stunning granite coastline, including the dramatic pink peaks of the Hazards range.

Scenic Flight.

If a scenic flight has always been on your travel bucket list, then let me assure you that there isn’t a more fantastic place to enjoy one than Freycinet National Park.
