Place Vendome, Is There Anywhere More Romantic?

Place Vendôme, is there anywhere more romantic?

No, I don’t think so.

Place Vendôme in the 1st arrondissement of Paris is about as beautiful, as glamorous and as elegant as it gets.

The simplicity of the decorations, the fairy lights against a backdrop or rich green pine was more than enough to make my heart stir.

It may also have been something to do with the array of sparkles in the store windows. A grown woman’s idea of heaven. Like the Dior, what else is as alluring?

Many of you have emailed to ask what to wear in the winter months in Paris and many would like to know what the Parisian women were wearing.

This is how I saw it.

The Parisians wore black in the chicest way, accented with scarves and fur hats. Boots, not only the biker style, but also knee highs were worn with everything.

Coats were more parka than puffer, more pea than trench. Accented with gold and silver buttons; military style details.

I saw very little caramel, some navy but predominately black.

Was it too much?

Non, The Parisian women looked chic and stylish, the black sophisticated and flattering.

Fur and especially faux fur were worn by all ages. The gilet layered over the chunky sweater looked incredible on the gorgeous, tall and leggy women.

It was far too cold for leather jackets, but not for leather pants.

Make-up seemed minimal to me. Parisian rules applied.

Red lips and pale eyes, smokey eyes and neutral lips.

Hair, all I noticed were longer styles. Layered and sharp.

And grey, I am so happy to tell you that older women were rocking their grey and looking superb.

I felt much better about my growing-out-grey when I realized I am not alone, at least not in Paris.

Promenading around the Place Vendôme, even with the massive scaffolding covering the Ritz Hotel and the Vendôme Column is for me, one of the most beautiful strolls and exquisite window shopping experiences in the world.

I thought you would like to join me… xv
