Donald Sutherland and “The Maze Runner” actor Blake Cooper are set to star in the indie “Measure of a Man.”
The pic is an adaptation of the popular YA novel “One Fat Summer” by Robert Lipsyte and will be directed by Jim Loach. David Scearce penned the script.
Set in the ’70s, the pic will be a coming-of-age story about overweight, unconfident teenager Bobby Marks (Cooper), who experiences a turning-point summer in which he learns to stand up for himself. Sutherland is set to play Dr. Kahn, a Wall Street executive who gives the teen a summer job on his estate, and teaches him the importance of hard work, determination and self-respect. Kahn finds an unexpected confidant in Bobby, a friend who helps him come to terms with the losses in his past.
Christian Taylor of Taylor Lane Productions is producing. Jim Reeves and Robert Halmi of Great Point Media serve as executive producers and are fully financing in association with Weedon Media.
