Volleyball player Kim Glass was featured in the SI Swimsuit Issue in 2011 when she was photographed by Stephan Wurth in Banff, Canada.

The California-native was named 2001 Pennsylvania State Gatorade Player of the Year at 17. She went on to win a silver medal while competing with Team USA at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Glass, 38, is now retired from her sport and works as a fitness trainer. She regularly posts instructional exercise content on Instagram, along with wellness tips.

The lifelong athlete shared that her SI Swimsuit photo shoot in the great outdoors ended up being incredibly natural and authentic—particularly because she went makeup-free for the photographs.

“I’m not wearing any makeup in my pictures, and that’s different for me. I was like, what do you mean, no makeup?” she said. “I was like, ‘Stephan, you’re a genius.’ It seems like everyone here, they just see everything like right away, you know, and the lighting’s awesome and I saw the pictures and I was just like, ‘I can’t wait to see them in the magazine.’”

Glass also shared that she picked up several modeling tips along the way during her photo shoot, including how to be more natural and not trying too hard.

“When you’re natural, you just are sexy,” she stated.

Below are eight gorgeous photos of Glass captured against a beautiful Canadian backdrop.
