No. 2 Women’s Lacrosse Falls to NCAA DIII Moravian University

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The No. 2 SCAD women's lacrosse team lost a 20-17 decision to NCAA DIII Moravian University at home on Tuesday night.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are now 1-2, while the Greyhounds are now 1-2 as well.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: Moravian scored the first goal of the game, but SCAD answered quickly, followed by another Greyhound goal to give Moravian a 2-1 lead at the 11:43 mark. The Bees scored four consecutive goals to go up 5-2 with just under three minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Greyhounds scored the last goal of the quarter to make it a 5-3 game in SCAD's favor at the start of the second quarter.
 
Moravian opened the second quarter with six goals to go up 9-5 with just over six minutes remaining. SCAD scored two goals in the last four minutes, but it would not suffice as the Greyhounds went into halftime up 10-7.
 
Both teams scored four goals in the third quarter and six goals in the final quarter to keep the score to a three-goal difference, to end the game with SCAD down 20-17.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Ainsley Jones led the offensive charge for the Bees with four goals and one assist. Keagan Plume added five points with three goals and two assists, while Clarke Haas had two goals and two assists for four points.
 
Annise Berkeley has three goals, while Emma Roach and McKinsey Brown had two goals, with Molly Wilson adding one. Wilson totaled two assists, while Brown added one.
 
Grace Gibson led the team in ground balls and caused turnovers with four and three, respectively. She also added three draw controls.
 
Annise Berkeley had a team-high eight draw controls, with Emma Roch totaling six.
 
Goalies Chole Zundel and Lorna Fowles split time in the cage and totaled four and three saves, respectively.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees remain at home to host NCAA DII University of Charleston – W.V. on Thursday, February 29 at 1:00 p.m.
