In the 1960's, The Bouffant hairstyle was the “must-have” look for women everywhere. Originally created for Marie Antoinette way back when, the style allowed her to cover her thinning pate by drawing the eye upward, as high as she wanted to take it. May decades later, the groovy era of the 1960’s saw more common folk rocking the style. Sure, celebrities such as Priscilla Presley, Bridget Bardot and Dolly Parton wore the popular do, but so did the church lady and soccer mom, respectively.

As the decade came to an end and women decided that feminism, women’s liberation and equality were more important pursuits, hair became flatter and the Bouffant’s heyday came to an end.
