COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's lacrosse team looks to earn its second win in as many weekends when it hosts in-state foe Cleveland State noon Saturday at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.

Buckeyes In a Nutshell

• Ohio State started the 2024 campaign with an 11-8 win over Utah at home.
• Junior Gannon Matthews recorded a team-high five goals and six points to lead the team in the comeback win over the Utes.
• The Buckeye defense held Utah to just two goals in the second half. Henry Blake made his first career start in goal, making 10 saves on the day to earn the win. Cullen Brown grabbed five ground balls and Eli Fisher and Connor Cmiel caused four turnovers each in the game.
• For their efforts, Matthews and Cmiel were awarded Big Ten weekly awards on Tuesday. Matthews was the conference's Offensive Player of the Week and Cmiel is the Defensive Player of the Week. Cmiel was also named to the USILA Team of the Week.
• Tommy Burke won 14-of-23 faceoffs in his Buckeye debut. His .609 win percentage led the Big Ten in week one.
• The Buckeyes will play Bellarmine on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. before playing three road contests. Ohio State travels to play Air Force (Feb. 17), Virginia (Feb. 25) and Cornell (March 2).
• This year marks the second straight year the teams will be meeting outdoors with the opening of the Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium in 2023. The teams previously met in Columbus in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
• On Saturday, 31 players from the state of Ohio will take the field. The Buckeyes have 10 Ohio natives on their roster while Cleveland State has 21.

History vs. Cleveland State

• Saturday marks the sixth meeting between Ohio State and Cleveland State. The two teams are the only Division I men's lacrosse programs in the state.
• The Buckeyes have won all five matchups, with the most recent being a 12-9 win last season.
• With the win over Utah last weekend, Ohio State improved to 59-16 all-time against teams in the ASUN conference. The Vikings are one of five ASUN teams the Buckeyes will play during the regular season.

National TV Appearances

• The Big Ten Network announced its broadcast schedule this week with three of Ohio State's five conference games appearing on the network.
• The Buckeyes' home games against Penn State (March 23), Johns Hopkins (April 14) and Michigan (April 20) will be broadcast on BTN.
• The 2024 Big Ten Men's Lacrosse Tournament semifinal and final games, hosted by Ohio State, will also be televised by the network.
