Men's Lacrosse Falls To High Point Saturday

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - High Point used seven unanswered goals to defeat the 16th-ranked North Carolina men's lacrosse team (6-3), 12-11, Saturday afternoon. 

How It Happened
• The Tar Heels jumped out to 5-1 start, with five different goal scorers doing damage for Carolina in the opening quarter.
• Carolina scored back-to-back man-up goals to start the second quarter, courtesy of Logan McGovern and Matt Wrede.
• Following two-straight High Point scores, Lance Tillman hit the back of the net and McGovern navigated his way around the crease to score his second goal, as the Tar Heels led 9-4 entering the half.
• In the third, each team scored two goals with Owen Duffy and Tillman putting the Tar Heels on the board.
• The visiting Panthers outscored Carolina 6-0 in the fourth, scoring the game-winning goal with 22 second remaining.
 
Tar Heel Performances
• Tillman, McGovern and Wrede each scored two goals, with eight different goal scorers.
Andrew Tyeryar (7-14) and Brady Wambach (4-13) saw action at the faceoff stripe for Carolina.
• Goalkeeper Collin Krieg made eight saves on the day.
 
Inside The Numbers
• Carolina leads the all-time series, 7-1.
• McGovern has recorded an assist in 56 career games and two-or-more goals in 33 games.
• Wrede matched his career best with two goals.
