Paris Hilton has paid tribute to Zsa Zsa Gabor, following the Hollywood legend's death on Sunday.

"Sad to hear the news of Zsa Zsa Gabor's passing," Hilton wrote on Twitter. My great-grandfather and her made such a beautiful couple. May she rest in peace." Hilton posted the note alongside a photo of Gabor and Conrad Hilton, Paris' great-grandfather. Conrad was one of Gabor's nine husbands; their marriage lasted from 1942–1947.

In addition to being an actress and prominent socialite, Gabor was known primarily for her fame—and she acted as a trailblazer, of sorts, for stars who came after her rise through Hollywood, like Paris.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Gabor's rep Ed Lozzi confirmed her death and detailed the difficult last years of her life. "I am pleased that she is finally out of her misery," Lozzi said. "For the past five years, Zsa Zsa has suffered chronic dementia, locked away in her mansion, laying in a hospital bed being fed through tubes in her navel, not able to speak, see, write, or hear. Nor knowing who she was or how famous she was."
