It's hard to believe that Taylor Swift once accidentally annoyed Avril Lavigne's fan base by favouriting a Tumblr post which critically compared Swift's backstage mingling with fans to Lavigne's more touch-averse approach.

At the time, Lavigne tweeted: 'Comparison is judging and judging a person does not define who they are it defines who you are. We all Love our fans. [sic]'

She later tweeted: 'So let's keep it all about the love and stay positive. [sic]'

After seemingly standing up for Swift, the 'All Too Well' singer invited Lavigne to sing her 2002 hit song 'Complicated' on stage with her in San Diego during her 1989 tour in 2015, showing there's no sign of bad blood between them.

Years after their duet, Swift has shown her admiration for Lavigne in the form of a heartfelt gesture.

Earlier this week she sent a bouquet of flowers to the singer, along with the sweetest sentiment in an accompanying card. The message on the card, which Lavigne shared on her Instagram story, read: 'Avril, Been dancing around my kitchen to your fabulous new album!! It's AMAZING, like you. [sic]'

Swift signed off the letter with: 'Your forever fan, Taylor.'

Lavigne, who released her album Love Sux on February 25, told FAULT Magazine earlier this month: 'I look at all my albums like a journey into my story over the last 20 years.

'I've been writing music from when I was a teen, to a young adult and this one is my story today as a woman.'

The likes of Kourtney Kardashian, Travis Barker, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly showed their support for Lavigne and her 2022 album by attending one of her recent concerts in West Hollywood.

As for Emmy-winning Swift, she's had her own recent successes after her music video for her 2021 song 'I Bet You Think About Me', from her album Red (Taylor’s Version), was nominated for Video Of The Year at the Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards.

The video, directed and co-produced by her friend Blake Lively, also earned the Gossip Girl alum two nominations for her work.

Lively recently expressed that she was 'freaking out' at the news via her Instagram Story, at which point Swift shared her own excitement, writing: 'Ahhhhhhh congrats @blakelively, Miles and @keleighteller!!!!Bi group hug!

'I loved making this video and it's so cool to see the @acmawards nominate it for video of the year. [sic]'

When formerly promoting her Lively-directed music video on Instagram Swift wrote: 'I finally got to work with the brilliant, brave, & wickedly funny @blakelively on her directorial debut. Join us as we raise a toast, and a little hell.'

Lively similarly thanked the singer for her 2020 album, writing: 'There was happiness because of you.

'Happy happy birthday. Thank you for #Evermore Absolutely nothing better than getting presents on other people’s birthdays,' concluding with: 'Love you. [sic]'
