Andreas THORKILDSEN - Norway - Olympic Javelin title retained with record throw (result)

Andreas is pictured above during the final of the mens Javelin at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. He produced a truly exceptional performance to win the gold medal with a new Olympic record throw of 90.57m, thus retaining the title that he had won four years previously in Athens. Thorkildsen's stunning effort left him almost 4 metres clear of his nearest challenger, Latvia's Ainars Kovals.
