The inset photo above shows a happy Tero celebrating his gold medal
winning performance in the final of the mens Javelin at the 2007 World
Championships in Osaka. Pitkamaki comfortably won the gold, his throw of
90.33m leaving him 1.72m clear of his nearest challenger Andreas
Thorkildsen. The action photo is also during the final. The Javelin is,
of course, hugely popular in Finland and a happy Pitkamaki later
predicted: "The party at home in Finland will be pretty big!" He added:
"That was my dream, to win the gold medal. Our team did not win a medal
here until today so in javelin was the last chance." |
