Iconic Italian actress Laura Antonelli was found dead in her home in the outskirts of Rome today. She was 73.
The actress became famous in the 1970s and 1980s after taking part in several Italian films, with her breakthrough coming in 1973 in the film Malizia (Malice). She had other leading roles in Italian erotic films, such as Il Merlo Maschio and The Senator likes women, and was also the main actress in more serious films such as The Innocent.
On 27 April, 1991, cocaine was found in her home during a police raid. She was subsequently convicted and sentenced to house arrest. Eventually the judgment was overturned.
