Abstract

A system and method for an interactive information and communications agent (132) that prepares and customizes user desired information, and manages user communications via wireless links (110). The agent (132) searches the intranet (126) and/or the Internet (112) based on user commanded keywords and user preferences in his profile. The user preference profile enlists the default order of information to receive and defines the user's range of interest and keyword sets. The agent (132) may collect or update the information based on the user preference profile. The agent (132) delivers the information to the user (102) based on the profile once the user activates the system. The agent (132) can also perform communication management functions including registration of a user's location, receiving or originating calls or messages for the user (102), and sending commands to functional devices.
